STOry Trails

A story trail is an exciting way to combine physical activity with literacy. Children's picture book pages are mounted on frames that are then laid out on along a trail inviting children, families, caregivers, teachers and others to follow along the path. The story unfolds as their short walk progresses. Each trail is generally less than a half mile.

The Lorain Public Library System offers five story trails, some of them are called StoryWalks® and others are referred to as Storybook Trails. The branch staffs change the books at each trail monthly April through November, weather permitting.

To encourage young patrons to visit all the trails, we created a fun Story Trails Passport” that can be downloaded here.
