Standard Card
Standard Card
A Standard Card allows access to all circulating materials, eLibrary resources and public computer access. Apply for this card in person at any Lorain Public Library System location by providing photo identification, current, permanent address and date of birth. Acceptable forms of photo identification include a driver’s license, state ID card, passport, school-issued ID and U.S. Military ID. Acceptable proof of a current address is either a printed personal check showing the address or an envelope, utility bill, or postcard with a recent (within last 30 days) postmark received at the address shown on the application. Standard Cards must be renewed every two years. Accounts that have been sent to materials recovery may not be renewed until the account has been repaired. Patrons whose account is in materials recovery are eligible for an Access Card.
A parent or guardian must accompany those in eighth grade and below to provide photo identification and verification of address, and sign the registration form. If children in ninth grade and above do not have photo identification, a parent or guardian must be present to provide photo identification and verification of address, and sign the registration form. Children may not be issued a Standard Card if their custodial parent or guardian has an account that has been sent for materials recovery. These children are eligible for an Access Card. Staff does not monitor the materials used in the library or borrowed by children. It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to monitor the content and quantity of materials borrowed by their children.
